Performance & Fitment Features:
-
Speed Density Essential: Highly accurate thermistor designed to measure air charge temperature on the inlet side of the engine, providing critical data for Standalone Engine Management Systems calculating air density.
-
CRITICAL INSTALLATION WARNING (NPT THREADS): This sensor utilizes a tapered 3/8" NPT thread. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. The maximum installation torque is strictly 15 ft-lbs (20Nm). Threading a hard brass sensor into a soft aluminum bung with excessive force will instantly strip the threads, crack the weld, or snap the sensor body. Liquid PTFE thread sealant is required. Thread damage is considered installation error and immediately voids all warranties.
-
Tuning Notice (Heat Soak Avoidance): For accurate ambient/charge air readings, the sensor bung must be welded into the intake piping (preferably plastic or silicone/isolated aluminum) prior to the throttle body. Mounting the sensor directly into a heat-soaked metal intake manifold will result in false, artificially high temperature readings and severe tuning degradation.
Federal Emissions Compliance:
-
Holley Emissions Code: 5
-
Status: This is a physical temperature monitoring sensor that does not inherently alter factory emissions control equipment. It is strictly legal for sale, installation, and street use in all 50 US states, including California. No CARB Executive Order (EO) is required.
Disclaimer & Warranty Information: Onyx Customs FL acts exclusively as an authorized retailer of high-performance automotive electronics. We do not manufacture this product. Modifying factory intake systems and altering engine management data carries inherent risk. Improper installation, overtightening the sensor, incorrect terminal crimping, or improper placement resulting in heat-soak will lead to severe drivability issues, lean conditions, or engine damage. Onyx Customs FL assumes no liability for direct or indirect damages, tuning costs, or engine rebuilds resulting from the incorrect application or misuse of this component. All manufacturing defects and warranty claims are strictly the responsibility of AEM Performance Electronics. We strictly mandate that all wiring, TIG welding, and ECU calibration be performed by a certified professional tuner.
